Community Art Works
I am perhaps most happy combining making art with building community:

Spring Fever Chair
A chair created for the 2008 Chair Affair, a fundraiser auction for the Rochester Boys and Girls Club. The chair was a
Salvation Army find that I repaired, repainted and reupholstered in a great recycled Liz Claiborne appliquéd skirt and various upholstery fabric remnants.

Recycled CD Fish Puppet
This 12-foot two-person puppet/sculpture was a project for Riverway Learning Community Charter School in Minnesota City.
It is constructed from foam and fabric on an armature of PVC tubes and foam swim noodles. Riverway students helped sew on
600 recycled CD scales, held in place with buttons. The fish appears in many parades and festivals.

RColorful Corner
Over 100 neighbors showed up to help paint the street mural I designed on the intersection of 5th Ave. SE
and 7th St. SE in Rochester. MN. We used traffic paint for durability. This project was sponsored by RNeighbors,
with technical expertise from muralist Greg Wimmer.

Dragonfly Skyway Mural - Design Sketch

Dragonfly Skyway Mural - View from 2nd Street (facing east)
In Summer 2008 I painted the skyway over 2nd Street SE as part of Rochester's Art in the Sky project.
The mural was 8 feet by 40 feet, painted directly on the glass in tempera. The lifespan of the skyway murals was almost
as fleeting as that of dragonflies--they were all removed at the end of the summer.

Lucky Golden Carp Skyway Mural - Street View (facing west)
Last summer I got to paint the same skyway again! This project featured the fish that swim in the Zumbro River, which runs through Rochester.
You can often see huge dark carp swirling in the water, and if you are very lucky, the lone golden carp. It seems like a good omen when you spot the gold carp.
